Did your kids get Legos for Christmas? My kids are seriously into Legos and I must admit, I think they are one of the coolest toys on earth.
My boys each got one of these LEGO 3-Drawer Sorting Systems this Christmas. These sorting systems are so AWESOME! They are great for sorting the Legos before you put your set together, plus you can use the top Lego board as a work station! I just wanted to point it out to you, because we really love ours!
My boys are 4 and 7 and have both spent a lot of time organizing and building with their new Lego storage system. Ok, the 4 year old didn’t do much organizing, but he loves to line up all his Star Wars Lego men on top and he is learning how to put them away properly.
Right now, Amazon, is having a great sale on this IRIS LEGO 6-Case Workstation and Storage Unit. It is not the same as the one we got, as it is bigger, but doesn’t have the tiny organizers inside the cases. But it does look pretty awesome and you can buy the organizer trays separately if you want.
Honestly, I feel like we could use several 3 drawer sorting systems and a couple 6 case storage units. Check them out and get what is right for your family. But so far, I Love the 3 drawer sorting system my boys got!
You can sort Legos by size, shape and/or color, depending on how many you have. We use the new storage cases for the tiny special pieces. Then we have baby wipe containers filled with the larger bricks sorted by color. We have A LOT of Legos!
Also, remember sorting small legos by color and shape is an excellent fine motor activity, plus it builds eye hand coordination, PLUS it promotes basic fundamental skills like matching and sorting. In addition to it keeping your room neat and organized.
Here is another great Lego tip-On Christmas morning when my 7 year old opened his presents, Grand ma and Pop Pop bought him a Ninjago lego set on Amazon that he already had. My mom started wondering how on earth she was going to return it on Amazon. I gave her the great news. That if you have a Lego store near you, they will exchange any unopened Lego set that they currently sell in store or online! So my son can bring his duplicate Lego set to the Lego store and exchange it for a new set that he wants. Just an FYI, if you got duplicate Lego sets this Christmas and have a Lego store near you.
