Chimpanzee-mini review and clips!

As I mentioned the other day, Keith and the boys got to go see the movie, Chimpanzee!  I am so jealous! I couldn’t go because I was giving a coupon class.  Since Chimpanzee opens tonight, April 20th in theaters, I wanted to let you know their thoughts on the movie.

So, I come home from my class, walk in the door and my little guy, who’s 3, jumps off the couch excited to see me.  I ask about the movie.  He immediately starts talking about it.  He was very excited to tell me that he saw a movie about monkeys and that some monkeys said “ooo ooo” (deep voice) and some monkeys said “Aaih  Aaih” (high pitched screech).  He thought this was very cool.  And then he says ” And mommy, there was a little one….. He was cute”.

He then goes and grabs  his apple that he was eating earlier and demonstrates how the little guy, Oscar, bangs rocks on the ground.  His favorite part was when the monkeys fight and when Oscar got the monkey that said “oo oo”.  I asked how did Oscar get him and my little guy jumped across the room and said “He just jumped like this, on his BACK”.

My older one, who just turned 7 liked the movie as well.  He said that some parts were funny, like when Oscar imitated the bigger monkeys that were eating.  He thought that was very funny.  His favorite part was a scene with all the waterfalls.  He thought that looked cool.

Both my boys liked the movie a lot and did not find it scary or boring.  I think they would recommend it to other kids.  I really like that they could see something so educational, without realizing that it was educational.

When I asked Keith for his initial thoughts, he said it was amazing, especially the footage and the photography.  Even though he is already very knowledgeable about nature and animals, he learned a lot of new things from the movie, which shows how educational it is.  He also thought the story was interesting and there were even some funny moments.  It is definitely a movie that you can bring the whole family to.  Keep your eye out for Keith’s upcoming review of Chimpanzee.
